Last month at London Fashion Week, Canadian retailer Aldo partnered with two Brit designers, Preen and Roksanda Ilincic for their Aldo Rise A/W 13 collaboration series. The footwear marched down the runway, accessorizing each designer’s Fall 2013 Ready-to-Wear collection. Aldo Rise was founded as a way to support, promote and celebrate “daring talent in the fashion community”. They have previously partnered with Libertine, Faster by Mark Fast and Patrik Everell, among others. This is Aldo’s second collaboration with Preen and a first with Roksanda Ilincic. The collections should be available for purchase this fall. It is awesome to see a Canadian brand supporting some very talented fashion designers. I hope to be rocking the Preen x Aldo Rise red stiletto booties come fall.

Last night I stopped by The Jewellery Local pop up event. Set in a second story loft space, local jewellery designers and merchants gathered to network and sell their goods. There was a bar, cupcakes and shopping all located under one roof. Seriously, what more could a girl ask for?
As always, Elle Hardware had an outstanding selection of accessories to choose from. I definitely spied a ring or two, or ten that I would love to have gracing these knuckles! Sisters Lindsay and Hilary MacMillan are always stocking the most unique pieces at their Queen St. W. boutique. It was a great evening to grab a glass of wine and meet local Canadian talent. Plus, any excuse to shop is a good excuse. Right? Right.

Yesterday we woke at the crack of dawn and headed north of the city for a day of snowboarding! It felt so amazing to hit the slopes for my first time this season. In fact, it felt so good that when I got home I was inspired write today’s post about fashionable fitness. No brand better combines practicality with style than Lululemon Athletica. I swear there is no athletic company out there that does yoga pants and leggings as well as they do. The best part? They are CANADIAN!
Lululemon was created in 1998, opening their first store in the Kitsilano area of Vancouver. Today they have over 165 stores globally. They believe that positivity, kindness and mindful living contribute to leading a truly active and healthy lifestyle. If you have ever purchased a Lulu item, you will have received one of their iconic red bags with inspirational messages that include, “Do one thing a day that scares you” and “Creativity is maximized when you’re living in the moment”. Lululemon’s philosophies are that extra little something that compel me to love this company even more than I already do.
I try to maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. I often have to run errands after my workout, and Lululemon allows me to look chic not just in the gym, but also on the streets of Toronto. There is nothing worse than going to the grocery store following a yoga class and looking like a total mess! Lucky for me, Lulu’s pieces are able to transition seamlessly from active wear to casual wear. As spring approaches, I am looking to expand my Lulu wardrobe by picking up a couple pairs of their shorts and cropped runner’s tights in bright summery colours. One of my personal goals for 2013 is to run a 10k race – hopefully some new gear will be just the inspiration I need to hit the pavement and begin training!

Today is ‘Family Day’ here in Ontario, a day where we get to blow off work and school, and just enjoy a long weekend in the middle of February! This weekend I have gone from Toronto up to my cottage, back down to Toronto and today, we are heading back up North for a day of snowboarding! This photo was taken just as the sun was rising this morning – I am not much of a morning person, but I swear I am excited for today! I will be back tomorrow with more fashion filled posts. Until then, I hope that you are all taking some time to enjoy your families today!

I have been a self-proclaimed “Joe Fresh Junkie” since the brand launched here in Canada in 2006. When I am strapped for cash, or just looking for a cheap thrill, Joe Fresh is destination #1. Over the years, I have collected some of my all time favourite fashion pieces from them.
Currently I am coveting the amazing black and white graphic prints that they sent down the runway for S/S 13. The striped top and printed pants will be the perfect transition pieces for those early spring days that I am so looking forward to.
Created by Joe Mimran, the man behind Alfred Sung and Club Monaco, the line is available across Canada and the USA. As the years have passed, Joe Fresh has become one of the hottest tickets at Toronto’s Fashion Week and a staple in the wardrobes of stylish, budget conscious Canadians. Check out Joe Fresh‘s new Spring 2013 line.
